Third-Party vs. In-House Testing: Why Independent Labs Matter
Testing can be done by the supplier itself or by an independent laboratory. Both produce reports that look similar, but they are not equally useful.
In-house testing
Some suppliers test their own material. This can be useful for internal quality control, but the person producing the result has an interest in the outcome, and there is usually no way for you to check the report independently.
Third-party testing
An independent laboratory has no stake in whether a batch passes or fails. Reputable labs issue each report with a unique number and a verification page on their own website, so anyone can confirm the report is genuine and has not been altered.
What a good testing programme looks like
- Every batch is tested, not just the first one.
- Reports come from a named, independent lab.
- Each report can be verified on the lab’s own site.
- New batches are clearly marked while testing is in progress.
Our approach
Every batch we stock is sent for independent testing, and the reports are published with direct verification links on our Lab Results page. When a new batch arrives, it is marked “Testing in progress” until its results are available.
